We seek a high-performing Product Leader to lead our ‘Core Services’ Products group, responsible for key technologies like recommendations, payments, profile/identity management. In this role, define roadmaps for ranking and recommendation efforts while owning the global payment platform to drive subscriptions and reduce cancellations. Identify merchants, banks, vendors, and methods that enhance performance on Academia. Initially lead 2 product teams, acting as IC to demonstrate execution excellence.
Our Bay Area team gathers in San Francisco's Financial District office three days a week: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays for All Hands, collaborative sessions, and innovation brainstorming. The space features cozy rooms for 1:1 mentoring and focused work, plus larger rooms for team activities. This environment fosters closer connections and productivity.

Requirements
- 7-12 years of product experience with a focus on B2C products
- Previous experience in recommendations/ranking/relevance, payments tech stack, or user identity/data management
- Previous experience hiring and leveling-up PMs
- Strong IC product skills to lead from the front and teach best practices
- Demonstrated ability to make significant business impact autonomously
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral
- Customer-centric approach with data-driven validation
- Extensive experience with A/B testing and user research, both qualitative
Responsibilities
- Define the roadmap for ranking and recommendation efforts, driving alignment with exec stakeholders
- Own the payment platform globally and identify merchants, banks, vendors, methods to drive subscriptions and reduce cancellations
- Hire and support a high-performing product team for current and future roles
- Act as IC for a product team early on to show execution excellence and model performance
- Advocate for and provide best practices for product as a function across the company
- Lead core services products including recommendations, payments, and profile/identity management
- Power product teams serving customers directly and supporting internal teams
